Staple Bags You Need in Your Wardrobe

19th November 2016

Us girls know that no outfit is complete until we had a little bag to hold all of our essentials. Unlike men, we don’t get the luxury of super deep pockets in all of our jeans, our dresses and skirts don’t seem to think we need to carry things and don’t get me started on the ridiculous size of jacket pockets in women’s jackets.

And so, we need bags. I’m really not complaining though, I love a good bag and it really can help to finish off an outfit and make it look pulled together and complete. Not all bags are created equal though and sometimes it can be hard to decided whether you should go for a tote, a rucksack, a cross body or a classic. It all depends on what you plan on doing with said bag and the outfit that you’re wearing.

Nevertheless, these are the types of bags that you should always have handy, these can be paired with most outfits and should be a staple in everyone’s wardrobe.

Rucksack

The trusty rucksack has been a staple for decades with good reason. Being able to sling a back onto your shoulders and pretty much forget about it is amazing. No pulling it up every five minutes, no swing around your hip and no need to really take notice of it at all.

The abundance of space is perfect for occasions where you need a little extra space to hold everything you need and rucksacks are versatile for gym days, short trips and shopping trips – no more having to carry around hundreds of little store bags, just throw everything in your rucksack and give your arms a break.

The Classic Tote

Tote bags are classic for a reason. They’re stylish and useful and they’re basically just fab. They’re great for transitioning from day to night as well as the right style can be work appropriate and party appropriate.

The size fo tote bags is a feature that shouldn’t be overlooked. They’re spacious without being gaping and most are the perfect size to fit everything in comfortably with squeeze but also without everything getting lost in the abyss.

Bum Bags

Bum bags are going through a revival and I am LIVING for it. No longer reserved for dads on holiday and over-keen 80s enthusiasts, bum bags are great for throwing on and forgetting about, without compromising the contents’ security. With the pocket being right in front of you, you run a lower risk of someone dipping in and taking something.

I use bum bags on nights out to keep everything safe and keep my hands and arms free for dancing (flailing) around.

Clutch Bag

I have a love-hate relationship with clutch bags. On the one hand, they’re super cute and are the icing on top of a perfect outfit, on the other hand, they’re really annoying to carry about.

You have to either constantly hold on to them for dear life or shove them under your armpit like your trucking a baby pig to slaughter.

BUT, they are great for formal events where you won’t really be required to do much at all with your hands apart from maybe hold a glass of champagne and laugh at more important people’s jokes.
